Privacy Policy
Effective March 22, 2026
Overview
Negativity is a grade calculator suite available on iOS and the web. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Data We Collect
Web App
The web app stores calculator inputs, GPA planning inputs, message mode, and any optional display name you enter in your browser's localStorage. This calculator data stays on your device and is not intentionally transmitted to our application servers. We do not use cookies or tracking pixels for these calculators.
iOS App
If you create an account in the iOS app, we store your email address for authentication. The current shipping auth provider is email/password only. Optional display name and message mode settings are stored locally on your device for personalization. If you choose to save and sync data, we store your saved classes, calculator state, GPA previous-input data, and upcoming priorities in Google Firebase Firestore under your user account. We also use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics for minimal app telemetry and crash reporting. Our app code is designed to avoid sending PII, grades, scores, GPA values, or raw user identifiers in custom telemetry payloads.
What We Do Not Collect
- Phone numbers or physical addresses
- Grades, scores, or GPA values on our own servers from the web calculators
- Payment card information on our own servers
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Google Firebase (authentication, cloud database, analytics, and crash reporting)
- Apple (App Store billing for iOS subscriptions)
- Vercel (web hosting and standard web request handling)
Tracking
We do not use your data for cross-app or cross-site tracking, and we do not use targeted advertising.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We do share data with service providers such as Firebase, Apple, and Vercel as needed to operate the product, process subscriptions, store synced data, and host the website. Data may also be disclosed if required by law or to protect our legal rights.
Data Retention and Deletion
Web data is stored in your browser and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings. For iOS accounts, you can delete your account from within the app. That deletion flow removes your cloud-synced classes, GPA previous-input data, upcoming priorities, and Firebase authentication account. Locally stored settings on your device can be cleared by deleting the app or resetting those settings.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
